Design matters, but nobody cares about your graphics

It's obvious Google's marketing folks are not too concerned with the graphics on their corporate pages. For good reason – they don't matter. Look at Google's balance sheet. Stock image collages, gradient backgrounds, cutesy navtabs and boxes with rounded corners are nice, but they don't have anything to do with what's in the bank.
